- Mrs. Akinyemi graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1991 with a B.Sc in Agricultural Economics and decided to pursue a career in Financial Services becoming a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
  
  She joined the pioneering team of Valucard Nigeria PLC (then known as Smartcard Nigeria Ltd.) in 1998 as a Settlement Officer, following a highly successful career in Financial Services at Prudent Merchant Bank. With a background in both Banking and Treasury Operations, she supported and enabled the pioneering of electronic card payments in Nigeria with Smartcard Nigeria Plc serving as Head of Settlement since November 2001.
  She joined the Executive Management Team in November 2006 with her appointment as Group Head of Marketing.
